How this is measured

Every figure comes from our own returns. When a customer returns an item they tell us why, and where the reason is size we record whether the item was too small or too big. This report counts only those directional size returns, so it reflects fit rather than faults, changes of mind or delivery problems.

It currently covers returns recorded between and .

A brand is only described as running small or large when the lean is statistically reliable: we require the 95% confidence lower bound of the dominant direction to stay above half, so a lopsided result from a handful of returns is reported as mixed rather than as a trend. Brands need at least 15 directional returns to appear at all, and individual products at least 8. Figures update automatically as new returns come in.
