To find the right field hockey stick length, measure the player's height and match it to the chart below. A junior between 136cm and 148cm (4'6"–4'11") takes a 34 inch stick, and most adults between 162cm and 184cm (5'4"–6'0") play a 36.5 inch stick. Hockey Stick Size Chart
Stick length is decided by height. If a player sits between two lengths, position can guide the choice: attackers often prefer the shorter stick for close control, while defenders often prefer the longer one for reach and stronger hitting. A quick check with stick in hand: stood upright, the head on the floor beside the foot, the top of a well-sized stick reaches roughly the top of the hip bone.

Measure the chest at its widest point and the waist at its narrowest. A 97–102cm (38–40in) chest takes a Medium.

Hockey shoes from most brands follow UK sizing, but imported ranges often list US or EU sizes — a UK 9 is a US 10 (EU 43).

What size hockey stick does a 10 year old need?
Most 10 year olds take a 34 inch hockey stick, which suits heights of 136–148cm (4'6"–4'11"). Taller 10 year olds over 149cm move up to a 35 inch. Measure the player's height and use the chart above — height matters more than age.
What size hockey stick do most adults use?
The 36.5 inch stick is the standard adult length, suiting players from 162cm to 184cm (5'4"–6'0"). Players over 6ft usually move to a 37.5 inch.
Should I size up or down between stick lengths?
Position is the usual tie-breaker: attackers often take the shorter stick for tighter close control, while defenders often take the longer stick for extra reach and hitting power.
Are hockey sticks different for left-handed players?
