GM Linseed Oil (2026)
GM Linseed Oil is Gunn & Moore’s own raw linseed oil for preparing and looking after a cricket bat. Oiling puts moisture back into the willow, and that is what stops a blade drying out and turning brittle over a season.
Use it when you knock a new bat in, then top it up through the year. Light coats are the whole trick. Work a small amount into the face, edges, toe and back with a soft cloth or your fingers, lay the bat flat overnight to let it soak in, then repeat. Too much oil softens the willow and adds dead weight, so go sparingly, and keep it off the splice, the labels and any anti-scuff sheet.
