What is the best cricket bat?

What is the best cricket bat? This is a massive question and can only really be answered by the purchaser, the most important factor here is to choose a bat of the right weight and the right size.
There are guidelines to help you choose these essentials as illustrated in the chart below, however when we talk about weight we talk about the ability to handle the bat,  it could well be that if you're very strong you could manage a much heavier bat but be warned this could affect the way you play cricket and the way a shot is played.
In the absence of having no prior knowledge as to how weight would affect the way you play we would always advise that you take the lightest bat that you can possibly find.
How much should you spend? This is will very much depend  on the budget that you can most afford, there will be various grade bats with varying numbers of grains but by and large they will perform in much the same way.
The only criteria here is you must choose an English willow as this is a soft fibrous timber that will perform for you.
The next question is, when do you want to use your bat?  If you're not prepared to spend time preparing the bat for a few hours  then we would recommend a Gunn and Moore pre-prepared and ready to use, not only are these bats superbly made but they are prepared to ready to go including protective bat-face and toe guard.
If you have no problem in spending a few hours preparing a bat then you could try a smaller one off manufacturer like Funky who make bats  for professionals that are a lot softer and will perform better, however they will need fully knocking in.
Obviously there is a lot more to it than this, however so many people get confused with manufacturers claims, grades, grains pick up, handles, sizes and weights we thought we just make it easy for you  to get you going, without spending an unnecessary fortune.
